Thundarr the Barbarian is an animated television series set in a post-apocalyptic future, following the adventures of Thundarr, a barbarian warrior, Princess Ariel, a sorceress, and Ookla the Mok, a lion-like creature, as they fight evil wizards and mutants to restore order to Earth.
For a barbarian, Thundarr owed a lot to Star Wars. He wielded a glowing weapon called a Sun Sword, reminiscent of a light saber. His sidekick, Ookla the Mok, had a lot in common with Chewbacca the Wookiee.
The titular Thundarr (Robert Ridgely) was a barbarian in the vein of Conan who travelled across the land by horse, along with his friends Princess Ariel (Nellie Bellflower) and Ookla the Mok (Henry Corden), a beastly humanoid with fangs and yellow eyes.
