Thomas Bliss sailed to the New World in 1635 with his father, also named Thomas. Before arriving in Norwich Thomas Bliss Jr. lived in Saybrook on his house-lot of thirty acres. It is recorded that he sold his Saybrook house-lot in 1662. His 1659 house-lot in Norwich was located in the spot where present-day William W. Backus Hospital stands.
