The unique name of the blog comes from an old saying “Even a blind pig can find an acorn every once in a while.”. When I first started my endeavor, the saying behind the name was often in my thoughts.

Oct 18, 2017 · Appalachia has a great tradition of story-telling. Many of the stories have been passed down through multiple generations and are continuing to be told today. There are more than a few story-tellers who read the Blind Pig and The Acorn. Keith Jones and Granny Sue both come to mind. A local story-teller named Martha Owen Liden also comes to mind.
Way back in 1996 on the TSA-TALK mailing list a small story called 'Tales of the Blind Pig' was written by one Mark van Sciver. He'd asked interested persons on the list for themselves as characters, and then he wrote a bar to set them in.
