I watched a film lately called Paper Tigers and I'm sure they called their Sensei, Sifu. It was about 3 "Brothers" who wanted to find out who killed their Sensei.
It didn't make sense at first until the end when he calls him "little brother" although that's debatable whether they're actually biological siblings. In wuxia/kung-fu stories and movies (most likely the real world as well) students who study under the same master are considered "siblings".
