In 1884, Sarah Porter hired her former student, Mary Elizabeth Dunning Dow, with whom she began to share more of her duties as Head of School. From then until her death in 1900, Porter gradually relinquished her control of the school to Dow.

Katherine G. Windsor is the 12th Head of Miss Porter’s School. Prior to her tenure at Miss Porter’s School, she served as the head of The Sage School in Foxboro, Mass. Dr. Windsor earned her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Pennsylvania and was a Klingenstein Visiting Fellow at Columbia University.
