Given its incredible bonding power, some cast iron lovers recommend using flaxseed oil for seasoning your pans for the first time; and a cheaper oil for further coats. Tip: for better results, you can go through 5 or 6 rounds of seasoning to ensure you end up with a slick, durable coating.
