    • Early Life

Jimmy Hurdstrom is a main character on Yellowstone. He is a professional thief and drug cook who becomes a ranch hand at Yellowstone Ranch. His grandfather, Dirk Hurdstrom, approached John Dutton to ask him to take Jimmy on as a favour.

    Throughout the series

Rip approached Jimmy at his home and gave him an ultimatum, either work for the Yellowstone, or Rip would turn him over to the authorities. He hastily agreed and received the brand. It was not easy for Jimmy at first to work on the ranch, especially when he got in conflict with another ranch hand, Fred Myers, for starters. He learned that the brand meant he was protected when a non branded worker decided to lay his hands upon him and Rip had to jump in. During his time of learning the ropes of working on the ranch, he found a passion in rodeo, preferably bareback bronc riding and fell in love with Mia, a barrel racer and began dating her. When he was severely injured in a competition, John made Jimmy swear that there would be no more rodeo. That didn't fly with Mia as she told Jimmy he should follow his passion, and once again, Jimmy attempted to ride another bronco at the ranch and injured himself once more. He spent some time in the hospital and John chastised Jimmy for breaking their deal. As punishment, Jimmy had to ride with Travis Wheatley to the 6666 Ranch in Texas to learn what it meant to be a cowboy. His relationship with Mia took a turn for the worst as she ended it with him.
