This prolific character actor of Scottish ancestry was born in Liverpool as John H. Young. He made his theatrical debut in Hamlet at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in 1959 and in later years worked as a stage director at the Court Theatre Training Company and at the King's Head Theatre in London.

Jeremy Young (28 July 1934-9 April 2022) appeared in two Doctor Who television stories: as Kal in An Unearthly Child and Gordon Lowery in Mission to the Unknown.
He shared his memories of the two stories on the 194th edition of Big Finish's charity podcast series Toby Hadoke's Who's Round.
From 1971 to 1976, he was married to Kate O'Mara, who played the First Rani in the later seasons of the original series of Doctor Who. He has the distinction of being the first actor to portray a villain in Doctor Who, and, coincidentally, was wed to another person who played a prominent villain on the show.

Jeremy Young is a pianist and composer. Educated at the Purcell School of Music in London, Jeremy had a career as a young actor appearing in Alan Bennet's '40 Years On' at the Queens Theatre in London and the BBC TV series 'Bluebells'. He was represented by Sylvia Young during his early teens.
Jeremy is the Head of Chamber Music at the RNCM. He coordinates and runs the RNCM’s busy International Chamber Music Department alongside Donald Grant (Deputy Head of Chamber Music – Strings), Rob Buckland (Deputy Head of Chamber Music -Wind, Brass and Percussion) and Small Ensemble Coordinator, Alanah Moulsdale.
