The Galveston/Bolivar Ferry is probably the most overlooked and underrated experience in Galveston. It's a FREE ferry ride across the shipping channel. You can drive your car onto the very or simply walk-on. On busier days I'd recommend walking on, as the wait-times to load your car on the Bolivar side can sometimes be hours long.
