Kasie Hines was born on September 22nd, 1992 to unnamed parents. She has one sister and a younger brother. Her best friend is a former criminal named Dante Brown. Her father died the Christmas before she joined the NCIS team. He was a mailman and he had a heart attack while on his mail route.
Kasie first appears as Dr. Mallard's graduate assistant while he is taking time away to write his book. She later appears at the end of the season when Dr. Mallard returns to NCIS and remains to temporarily take over Abby's role as the main forensic scientist for the Major Case Response Team.
Kasie was promoted to a main character in season 16, and her role as a Forensic Scientist was made permanent after several months (in show time).
In Starting Overwe learned that Kasie is in the early stages of a relationship with Piper, one of the techs from the Sub-Basement at the Navy Yard.
