I'm impressed with the staff photograph taken in August 1916, which is shown, in part, inside the front and rear covers of the book.

Feb 11, 2017 · Margaret Ann Bulkley, under the male pseudonym James Barry, was one of the first female obstetricians in early nineteenth century British Empire. She was the first person to perform a cesarean section in South Africa.
To counter Barry’s high-pitched voice and admirable skin, Margaret altered her age and was simply thought to be a boy genius. The initial plan was for Bulkley to travel to Venezuela and practice medicine as a woman after the country was liberated.
