His older brother, David, is a cardiologist at New York–Presbyterian Hospital. [5][6] His father Peter, a former Goldman Sachs financier, and mother Nina, who ran an antiques store, feared for their son's future prospects because of his dyslexia. [7] His father is Jewish, and his mother is Swedish.
Engel married his gorgeous wife, Mary Forrest, in May 2015. The couple has two children: Theodore, born in 2015, and Henry Thomas, who was born in August 2019 and sadly passed away on August 18, 2022.
