Jan 24, 2023 · Catlin Gabel was the first independent school in Oregon accredited by the Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools. It withdrew from the association in 1960 over teacher certification requirements because of its commitment to a progressive educational philosophy.

Mar 9, 2020 · In 1931, Priscilla Gabel bought an elementary school downtown. This would later end up becoming a day school for first through twelfth grades. What we now know as “Campus Day” actually started at the Gabel Country Day School. The first “Clean-Up Day” took place in 1937, and we have continued that tradition since.
