Thomas Robert Kitt [1] is an American composer, conductor, orchestrator, and musician. For his score for the musical Next to Normal, he shared the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama with Brian Yorkey. [2]
The lead character, a 40-year-old professional woman in New York, is played by the Tony Award–winning actress/singer Idina Menzel (Rent and Wicked); the director is Michael Greif (Rent), who also directed Next to Normal. If/Then resonates personally for both Kitt and Yorkey. “Every day we make choices,” Kitt says.
