She is a New Zealand-born Australian, who came to fame after starring in 1980s sketch show Not the Nine O'Clock News. She also wrote a biography about her husband, titled Billy.
Billy Connolly (pictured in 2016) and Stephenson were married in 1989. In 1978, after filming an episode of Hazell with its star Nicholas Ball , Stephenson and Ball married. [ 100 ] Stephenson converted to Buddhism in 1979, shortly before she joined the cast of Not the Nine O'Clock News .
