Lazlo is a Brazilian spidermonkey, a Bean Scout and the titular protagonist of the show. He is originally from Scoutmaster's cabin, but moved to Jelly.
The real scoutmaster resembles both Scoutmaster Lumpus and Heffer Wolfe and is also voiced by Tom Kenny. Murray originally created Lumpus as a horse, but changed the design to a moose when the design seemed more "mountain" to the Camp Lazlo creator.
Lazlo resides in the "Jelly Bean" cabin with his fellow Bean Scouts; Raj, an Indian elephant, and Clam, a pygmy rhinoceros. Lazlo is often at odds with his pessimistic camp leader, Scoutmaster Lumpus the moose, but usually gets along well with the second-in-command, Slinkman the banana slug, and other campers.
