Milch. Erde. After considering several options, the band settled on Rammstein as their name. It was inspired by a tragic incident that occurred on 28 August 1988, at the US air base near Ramstein, Germany.
- Formation and early years (1994-1995) Rammstein was founded by guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe. In 1989, he escaped to West Berlin and started the band Orgasm Death Gimmicks.

- Mutter (2000-2002) The recording of Rammstein's album Mutter took place in the south of France between May 2000 and June 2000, and it was later mixed in Stockholm in October of that year.
