Loreto College is a Roman Catholic grammar school situated in the Castlerock Road area of Coleraine, County Londonderry, on the north coast of Northern Ireland. Loreto College educates both girls and boys between the age of 11 and 18.
The school was named Loreto Convent school for Girls. True to the spirit of their foundress, Mary Ward, the Loreto Sisters developed the school in Coleraine, added extensions, adapted to changes in the educational system and maintained the high standards of Loreto education.

The core values derive from the educational philosophy of Mary Ward, a 16th century English woman, who founded the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the order of nuns who started the college in 1851.
The school was founded primarily by Mary Ward, a Catholic nun born in 1585, who campaigned for Women’s education. She helped to set up the I.B.V.M: The Institute of Blessed Virgin Mary, which went on to start Loreto College, becoming the first provider of secondary schooling for girls in St Albans.
