Lights Out is an American television anthology series that featured dramas of thrills and suspense. Broadcast on NBC from July 12, 1949, until September 29, 1952, [1] it was the first TV dramatic program to use a split-screen display. [2]

Lights Out was one of the earliest radio horror programs, predating Suspense and Inner Sanctum. In 1946, NBC Television brought Lights Out to TV in a series of four specials, broadcast live and produced by Fred Coe, who also contributed three of the scripts.
It was created and written by Willis Cooper and later directed and produced by Arch Ober. The show was an anthology series that included elements of supernatural mystery, suspense, and science fiction. It remained on the air until the late 40s when television became the new media.
