He was educated at Brighton College and then Wadham College, Oxford, [2] of which he wrote a history, before being articled as a pupil to Sir George Gilbert Scott. Jackson was a prolific author of carefully researched works in architectural history, often illustrated with sketches made during his extensive travels.
On 25 June 1650, Wren entered Wadham College, Oxford, where he studied Latin and the works of Aristotle. It is anachronistic to imagine that he received scientific training in the modern sense. However, Wren became closely associated with John Wilkins, the Warden of Wadham.
Wadham College was founded in 1610 by Dorothy Wadham, according to the will of her late husband Nicholas Wadham, a member of an ancient Devon and Somerset family. The central buildings, a notable example of Jacobean architecture, were designed by the architect William Arnold and erected between 1610 and 1613. They include a large and ornate Hall.
'Wadham is the only college [in Oxford] which was built all at one go and has remained virtually unchanged since....' (or at least had when Sherwood and Pevsner first published their survey of Oxfordshire in 1974).

The architects have remastered the internal routes at Wadham College, Oxford through a twinset building in the campus’s heart. The new Access Centre perches at the top of the steps, opening onto an existing terrace while bridging from it; and linking two quads is the new Undergraduate Centre.
