His Jacob's Creek Bridge, built in 1801 for US$600 ($10,987 in 2023), [3] and demolished in 1833, was the first example of a suspension bridge using wrought iron chains and with a level deck. It was a true family affair, with sons and many other family members keeping the company successful and growing until its demise in 1922 at which time it had morphed into the more simplistic King Bridge Company.
