- Dean Forester. Dean's character arc is interesting to trace since he was around for a significant portion of the series. He begins as a mysterious, brooding classmate of Rory's, but they aren't at the same school for long.
- Rory Gilmore. All in all, Rory Gilmore has one of the worst character arcs of all the main characters. She is such a good person in the early days of the show, and she's optimistic for new opportunities in the best way possible.
- Logan Huntzberger. Oddly enough, Logan's arc is slightly better than Rory's. Because fans have just a few seasons to get to know Logan, he has to grow within a shorter time span.
- Sookie St. James. Sookie is Lorelai's best friend throughout the series. She is a gifted gourmet chef, even though her kitchen safety standards are not commendable.

- Lauren Graham. Lauren Graham played Lorelai Gilmore — everyone's favorite single mom. She was more of a best friend to her daughter Rory than the average Stars Hollow mom.
- Melissa McCarthy. Melissa McCarthy portrayed Lorelai Gilmore's best friend, Sookie St. James. She was the executive chef at the Dragonfly Inn and the light of the room.
- Scott Patterson. Scott Patterson played the perfect Luke Danes. He was snappy, to himself, and a hometown kind of guy. As much as he yelled at his guests and the patrons of Stars Hollow, Luke loved their small town.
- Yanic Truesdale. Yanic Truesdale played Lorelai's dedicated friend and employee, Michel. As much as it pained her to say it (because of their differences), Michel was as close to her as a best friend would be.
