The Untamed is based on Mo Dao Zu Shi (literally "Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation"), a novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. It is a Xianxia story, which means it is a fantasy adventure heavily influenced by Chinese mythology and martial arts, among other traditional elements. The story is very detailed, so getting lost keeping track of the many character...

Mo Dao Zu Shi is a BLstory — "boy love," a term used for works depicting love between men for a presumed female audience. In the original novel, after many adventures together, Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi become a couple, and their sentiments for each other are very explicit. Though the story has been adapted a few times before — there's an audiobook...

Once you get to the end of the story, you'll realize there's not much else to be said. All the loose ends are solved and all the characters get what they deserve, so another season is very unlikely. But if you really, really miss it, you can always read the novel and watch the animated adaptation, like many other fans who got obsessed with the seri...

  3. I have one fundamental issue with this ending, that I believe the ending in the drama tries its best to resolve: the society they currently live in is very, VERY flawed. The core set of characters go on a journey of transformation and renewal, but very little immediate change is revealed or reflected in their setting.

  4. When the duo unexpectedly stumbles across evidence implicating the Wen clan's chief in a plot to bring mayhem to the inhabitants of their land, Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji decide to intervene. However, the pair's attempts to foil the Wen clan boss's wicked plans go wrong.

  6. This is several episodes dedicated to side characters who have some significance for the plot, but you can just watch the parts with Wei Wuxian and fast-forward through the rest. Some people like that part though, so you can also watch it for the drama (it's very sad!).
