Oct 21, 2020 · On 26 September the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary at Chigwell Convent celebrated the 150 th anniversary of the arrival of the Order in the UK. Bishop Alan presided at a Thanksgiving Mass zoomed to their 29 communities worldwide.

The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (SS.H.J.M.) are a group of Catholic Religious Sisters who were established in London, England, in 1903. There they are commonly known as the Chigwell Sisters.

The Church of the Sacred Heart, adjoining the Priory, was built by the Chigwell Sisters after the Second World War, in thanksgiving for their protection during the war. Within the Chapel is a side chapel which used to be the ‘Sisters Chapel’.
