- Sam Worthington as Jake Sully. Sam Worthington returns to the “Avatar” franchise as Jake Sully, who now lives permanently as a Na’vi after his consciousness was transplanted from his human body to his Na’vi avatar at the end of the original film.
- Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri. Zoe Saldaña reprises her role of Neytiri, Jake Sully’s wife and one of the best warriors among the Omaticaya people. The actor managed to hold her breath underwater for five minutes while filming diving scenes.
- Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch. Stephen Lang is back in villain mode as Colonel Miles Quaritch, who died at the end of the first “Avatar” film. How is Quaritch back?

- Quaritch (Stephen Lang) Stephen Lang returns to Pandora in a reincarnation of sorts of his character from the first film: Colonel Miles Quaritch. Though Jake killed Quaritch’s human form and body on Pandora in “Avatar” (2009), scientists had prepared for such an event by storing his memories and essence on a backup hard drive to use for an Avatar body they inserted him into on Earth.

- Sam Worthington - Jake Sully. Returning in the main role of Jake Sully for Avatar: The Way of Water is Australian actor Sam Worthington. Following the events of the first film, Jake Sully is firmly established in his Avatar body and leads the clan of Na'vi known as the Omatikaya.
