Biography. Elizabeth “Liz” Acevedo was born in New York City around 1988. The youngest child and only daughter of Do-minican immigrants, she grew up in a family of storytellers. As a child, she was an avid reader and loved hearing her mother’s stories of her childhood adventures in the Domini-can Republic.
