Ken Kesey’s novel “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” was adapted for the stage by Dale Wasserman. It premiered on Broadway in 1963 with Kirk Douglas in the leading role. Kirk then bought the film rights and tried to generate interest from most major studios, however he didn’t succeed.
