There exists a consensus among scholars that the language of Jesus and his disciples was Aramaic. Aramaic was the common language of Judea in the first century AD. The villages of Nazareth and Capernaum in Galilee, where Jesus spent most of his time, were Aramaic-speaking communities.

Jun 25, 2022 · Pilate had a sign posted (see Luke 23:38) at Jesus' crucifixion in Latin (Rome's language), Greek (the lingua franca), and Hebrew (the Jews' language--note that Aramaic was spoken by the Jews, but the most important writing was done in Hebrew).

Christ may also had occasion to speak Greek. During the time of Christ's Ministry, there were many Jews who were not of Hebraic descent.
