Why stay in Bayeux
Bayeux is one of our favorite places in Normandy. This city has a lot to offer: it is a city with a charming historical center. Its center sometimes looks more like a village than a city. It was fortunate to avoid most of the destruction during the Second World War. And since it’s not too big, you don’t have too much traffic to get out of town and explore the area. Moreover, it is famous for its Unesco listed tapestry, probably from the 11th century. And it is very well located to explore the...

Deauville is a glamorous 19th century seaside resort. Its reputation is partly due to the American Film Festival of Deauville which takes place there every year. Why stay in Saint-Valery-en-Caux
A lesser known city on the Alabaster Coast, but one of my favorites. It is located in the center of the coast, which allows you to visit the area easily. It is organized around a long harbor with beautiful cliffs, and a long dike. It has been occupied since Roman times, a port and a fishing village. However, the harbor has been reclaimed by the mud. In the 17th century, Louis XV dug it.
Nearby attractions
1. The relaxing city center around the water with the half-timbered house of Henri IV (16th century) and its museum. 2. The two dikes with a view of the large beach and the cliffs 3. The chapel with its blue stained glass windows 4. And the sites of the Alabaster Coast: Fécamp and the Benedictine, Étretat and its cliffs, the village of Veules-les-Roses, the castles… 5. - Alabaster Coast – Where to go in Normandy. Why visit? The Alabaster Coast is my favorite part of Normandy. That’s where I live. The region extends over 130 km along the coast, from Le Havre to Le Tréport, and offers magnificent white chalk cliffs all along the way.
- Cotentin Peninsula – where to go in Normandy. Why visit? With the exception of the main city of Cherbourg, the Cotentin Peninsula offers a wilder landscape than the rest of Normandy.
- The Vexin Normand. Why visit? We believe that the Vexin Normand offers one of the best combinations of history, art, architecture and nature in Normandy.
- Pays d’Auge. Why visit? The Pays d’Auge is the most famous destination in Normandy. It covers a large part of the central region – with part of the Calvados coast and countryside.
- Holiday like a Parisian in seaside Deauville. For those with busy schedules that want to carve out a weekend with fresher seaside air, a quick train ride will take you from the bustling French capital to the calmer and more relaxed shores of the Côte Fleurie.
- Tour Caen Castle and visit the Caen Memorial Museum. Caen is the capital city of the Calvados department of Normandy and has a history going back to Roman times.
- Sample Camembert on a Normandy cheese tour. In French, there’s a saying “en faire tout un fromage”, which essentially means to make a big fuss, or cheese, out of something.
- See the famous 11th-century tapestry in Bayeux. Before there was Netflix, there was the Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century 70m-long (230ft) scroll of hand-embroidered wool thread on linen that tells the story of the Norman Conquest of England.
