5 days ago · CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) annual winter trout program begins Nov. 1 following the stocking of nearly 10,400 rainbow trout in five southeast Missouri waters – Perryville’s Legion Lake, Jackson’s Rotary Lake, Farmington’s Giessing Lake, Sikeston Recreation Complex Pond, and Cape Girardeau’s Capaha Park Pond.
Rainbow trout require waters that are constantly below 70°F, so they are limited to Ozark spring branches, spring-fed streams, and Lake Taneycomo, where cold water is discharged from the lower levels of Table Rock Reservoir just upstream.
