Lovely small, friendly and beautiful site. Tom and Laura were so accommodating and friendly and the site had a lovely friendly atmosphere. Toilet & shower block was cute and clean with everything you’d need. The shared kitchen area was rustic and stocked with most things needed to cook a meal.

Location of Usk Castle. Usk Castle ruins stand atop a spur on a low hill, a short distance north from the town centre of Usk in central Monmouthshire, South East Wales. The ruins overlook the River Usk, and wooded slopes surround the site on all sides.
This is a medieval castle that fell into disuse 500 years ago, waiting to be discovered. The lane to the castle is opposite the Fire Station on Castle Parade, off the road leading east out of Usk to Monmouth and Raglan, and goes up hill to a small car park.

This English castle was built by a Frenchman on a previously fortified, possibly Roman, site which has prehistoric connections. It was the site of the start of the Battle of Usk in 1405 and has been a ruin since 1536.
The ruins of Usk Castle are tucked away above the medieval town of Usk, just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Opening Times. Unusually, the castle ruins are in the gardens of a privately owned family home. Visitors are welcome for £4 minimum donation per adult via a card reader or cash for their visit.
