Joe Star, a Civil War veteran buried in 1878, is reported to occupy the oldest known grave in Oaklawn. However, there is no existing Star headstone. A large section of the Oaklawn cemetery known as “Potters’ Field” was set aside for the city’s poor and generally has very few headstones.
May 23, 2021 · On Tuesday June 1, the City of Tulsa will begin a full excavation and analysis of the Original 18 site at Oaklawn Cemetery, 1133 E. 11th St. led by the University of Oklahoma - Oklahoma Archaeological Survey (OAS) and the 1921 Graves Physical Investigation Committee.
The OGS Cemetery Book Committee sought new and updated information by mailing Lost and Found Cemeteries forms to all Ohio chapters of the Ohio Genealogical Society and to genealogists and others who might be interested in submitting new or updated cemetery data.
