Sep 17, 2024 · ERIE — The Neosho River bridge project south of Erie is progressing as planned and remains on budget, according to Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) officials. The bridge, which closed to traffic on January 30, is being replaced by A.M. Cohron and Son Inc. of Atlantic, Iowa, with a budget of $11.2 million.
The bridge, located 2 miles south of Erie, is expected to be closed to traffic on Jan. 30. U.S. 59 traffic will follow the signed state detour on K-47, U.S. 169 and K-39 (see map). The new bridge should be open to traffic in January 2025, weather permitting.

KDOT awarded the construction contract of approximately $4 million to B&B Bridge Company, LLC, of St. Paul, Kan. The new bridge will be built on an offset
