Seward Park is a 300-acre urban oasis located on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Washington, offering stunning views, old-growth forests, and a wide variety of recreational activities.
The original Olmsted Plan for Seward Park envisioned the peninsula as a forested haven for water sports enthusiasts complete with boat docks. Seasonal fluctuations in lake levels used to flood the low, marshy ‘neck’ of the peninsula, thus isolating it into a wintertime island.
Seward Park is a municipal park in Seattle, Washington, United States. Located in the city neighborhood of the same name, it covers 300 acres (120 ha; 0.47 sq mi). The park occupies all of Bailey Peninsula (Lushootseed: sqəbəqsəd), [1] a forested peninsula that juts into Lake Washington.

Major settlements were found south of the lake in the Renton area. Several villages were located along the Black, Cedar, and Duwamish Rivers. These people were called txwduwa’bsh or “inside people”, which became anglicized as “Duwamish” or similar variants.
