Sidon (/ ˈ s aɪ d ən / SY-dən) or Saida (/ ˈ s aɪ d ə, ˈ s ɑː ɪ d ə / SY-də, SAH-id-ə; Arabic: صيدا, romanized: Ṣaydā) is the third-largest city in Lebanon. It is located on the Mediterranean coast in the South Governorate, of which it is the capital.
- Options for getting to Rockefeller Center. You could walk, depending on how far that would be for you. Or you could also easily take the subway or use a ride company like Uber, Lyft or a Taxi.
- Arrive Early. Arrive before 6:30 am for optimal benefit. Otherwise, arrive when you can, but as early as you can. If you arrive before 6:30 AM, you will be more likely to be interviewed and that segment shown on TV.
- Food and Beverages are allowed in the Plaza. Stop for a beverage and bite to eat and take it with you. While on our walk, we decided to stop at a little café and get a bagel and hot chocolate to take with us, to keep us warm in the 30 degree cold and nourish us since we didn’t know how long we would be there.
- Bouchon Bakery is across the plaza. If you need to go to the restroom or want to get something to eat or drink, you can head to Bouchon Bakery. You can also find a spot to sit in there if you or someone in your party doesn’t want to be in the mix of the Today show filming.
- Cross the causeway to Sidon Sea Castle. Perched on a small island off the coast of Saida, Sidon Sea Castle is a remarkable monument to the city’s Crusader past.
- Take a stroll along Saida’s Corniche. Saida has a marvellous Corniche, with a seaside promenade that stretches along the city’s coastline, offering beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea.
- Visit the Sidon Soap Museum. The Sidon Soap Museum is a curious destination that tells the tale of the city’s age-old soap industry. Housed in an old soap manufacturing building known as the ‘Audi Soap Factory’ that dates back to the 17th century, much of the old factory has been meticulously restored.
- Lose yourself in the labyrinth of the Old Souks. The Old Souks in Saida offer a dizzying journey into the city’s cultural heritage, as you quite literally lose yourself in the labyrinth of narrow streets and winding alleys.
