Twister Museum
The Twister Museum is located in Wakita, OK and it really is a homage to the cast and crew of the movie. The amount of behind-the-scenes information and memorabilia in the museum is really cool! The crew really took Wakita under its arm and embraced this small town and it’s evident in the fans, cast, and photos in the museum. Make sure to check the hours of the museum and don’t be afraid to call to make sure what the hours are. It’s small but it’s very personable and chock full of fun 90s nos...
Meg’s House
Meg’s house is located just south of the museum. It was an old house that was already falling down and the movie production rebuilt parts of the house for the film knowing they would eventually knock it down for the finale along with several blocks of the main street in Wakita. It’s now a small park area and walking distance from the museum. There are lots of flowers and sitting areas on the corner lot where the house used to be. There are even several pictures on wooden stands to show you ol...
Bob’s Road Scene
This area is a wide-open place and surrounded by fields. Osage County is beautiful and this area is a great example of that. This is the area when the crew is traveling down “Bob’s Road” and they bust out of the cornfield right next to Jonas on this road. I also think Van Halen was playing during this scene!
Ditch and Wood Bridge Scene
This is the first tornado the crew chases. Bill ends up driving through a ditch and runs into a wooden bridge. The tornado goes over them and picks up the yellow Jeep and drops it on this road. The ditch isn’t there anymore and the bridge isn’t there anymore either. There is a small ditch area and that’s where it used to be. Watch out because there isn’t much parking here and the road is narrow.
Divorce Papers Scene
This area is a beautiful pasture and when I visited it had a large herd walking across it. It looks like it’s private property so please be respectful of it. The scene takes place down the road at the bottom of the hill.
The drive-in movie scene was filmed in this area of Guthrie. The production built up this area specifically to make a “fake” drive-in for the movie just to destroy it. There isn’t much there anymore except for the silos and the brick “house”. It was very interesting to see the “house” was really just an old storage building. The drive-in scene is t...
The diner and tire garage was filmed in this small roadside area near Maysville Oklahoma. I didn’t visit this place yet but it’s on the list. The old diner building wasn’t actually a diner but rather some kind of gas station that was decorated to look like a diner. The diner isn’t there anymore but the garage is. The old floor of the diner is still...
Aug 5, 2024 · The actual overpass depicted in the movie is at the intersection of two state highways — OK-81 and OK-3 — in Okarche, and some filming took place there. Because of all the weather effects and stunts involved with the sequence, though, "Twisters" crews built a partial overpass on a makeshift back lot near Prairie Surf.
