Lying near the southern end of the Jordan Valley, just north of the Dead Sea, it was the “pass-through” place for travellers to Jerusalem coming either from the east, across the Jordan river, or from the north, from parts of Galilee.
Jericho is situated in the lowest region on Earth and, as one of the oldest cities in the world and should, not be missed while visiting Israel. Getting there from Jerusalem is possible but not the easiest of trips to make.
