The horse camp has a gravel drive with grassy campsites and plenty of shade. High line/tie rails, stock water and a port-a-john are available. The trails are closed to horse use from December 16 to April 14 each year. Check map for another trailhead. Trail rating: moderate to challenging.
Jun 4, 2021 · You’ll pass Conkle’s Hollow, one of the deepest gorges in Ohio, Twin Falls, two falls next to each other, Airplane Rock, an overlook of some of Hocking Hills State Park, and 21 Horse Cave which is called this because supposedly 21 horses can fit inside.
Today, Bear Lake is the location of the popular Horse Camp, where horse enthusiasts camp out and ride the forest's many bridle trails. One of six lakes originally built with CCC labor, Bear Lake was the first to be finished in 1935.
The trailheads for the Lake Vesuvius Horse Trail system are located off State Route 93. Directions for each trailhead are maintained on each trailhead's page. General Notes: Routes can be planned using a map of the trail system and our chart of loops, distances, trail markers and start/end points.
