The Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (Russian: Российский государственный университет нефти и газа имени И. М. Губкина) is a public university in Moscow, Russia. The university was founded in 1930 and is named after the geologist Ivan Gubkin.

The history of Gubkin University as an independent educational institution begins with the Order of the Supreme Soviet of the National Economy of 17 April 1930, when 6 technical institutions were established as a result of the reorganization of Moscow Mining Academy, including Moscow Oil Institute.
