Dec 19, 2018 · The corridor of the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail was formerly the Penn Central Railroad, also known as the Michigan Northern. The trail was dedicated on July 20,1994. The trail extends from Ann Street in Grand Rapids north to Cadillac. The trail is completely paved as of the fall of 2023. Snowmobiles are permitted on most of the trail, between Russell Road (near Cedar Springs) and South Street in Cadillac.

This trail spans from Riverside Park on the north side of Grand Rapids to Cadillac, Michigan. I've only traversed the portion from Riverside to Sand Lake which is approximately 24 miles. This section is all paved and has a very wide berth in Riverside.

Apr 26, 2022 · Fred Meijer White Pine Trail is the longest linear state park in Michigan. It runs from Comstock near Grand Rapids to Cadillac at the total length of 93 miles. The entire trail runs parallel to US-131, and therefore is fairly easy to access.
