Faced with eviction from his apartment, our anti-hero becomes the first person in this world to tell a lie. At the bank, the system is down, and he says he has more money in his account than he does; the teller naturally assumes what he says is true and apologizes for their system making a mistake.
The Invention of Lying is a highly enjoyable, witty, and smart comedy. Similar to Ricky Gervais’ previous film Ghost Town its nothing particularly special nor great, but it’s far more superior than most comedies being released today. It manages to be consistently funny and engaging.
