Jul 9, 2018 · Nine years ago I found Euterpe edulis growing in the municipality of Reserva, located +- in 100 km in straight line from Carambeí-second tableland of the state of Paraná-south Brazil. In Araucaria forest at 850 m altitude. I collected seeds and obtained a lot of seedlings.

Aug 14, 2013 · Apparently they grow in Brazil at elevations where archontophoenix fail. I grow some here and growth seems to be quite vigorous provided they get plenty of water and acidity in the soil. Juçara (Euterpe edulis) grows from sea level to higher in the mountains of the Atlantic Forest.

A solitary, medium sized, water-loving, moderately fast growing, monoecious, forest emergent, orange coloured crownshaft palm. Common in cultivation, locally common in the wild. It has a smooth, light-grey trunk, 9 m.
