Biography. Wajdi Mouawad grew up in Lebanon, became a teenager in Paris and a young adult in Quebec. A 1991 graduate of Canada's National School of Dramatic Arts, he has adapted and directed contemporary and classical plays, as well as his own texts.
Wajdi Mouawad, OC, (born 1968) is a Lebanese-Canadian writer, actor, and director. He is known in Canadian and French theatre for politically engaged works such as the acclaimed [1] play Incendies (2003). His works often revolve around family trauma, war, and the betrayal of youth.
Mouawad’s latest story has been billed as Romeo and Juliet for the Arab-Israeli conflict. In it, a young academic named Wahida, who’s been studying the life and work of Al-Wazzan, falls in love with Eitan, a science major specializing in genetics.

Born in 1968, author, actor, and director Wajdi Mouawad spent his early childhood in Lebanon, his adolescence in France, and his young adult years in Quebec before settling in France, where he now lives.
