On the morning of December 31, Yasuko's mother entered the Miyazawa home after receiving no response to her calls or knocks. She found Mikio's body at the bottom of the stairs, stabbed multiple times. Yasuko and Niina were found upstairs, also viciously stabbed. Rei was found strangled in his bed.
