Olivier, Laurence Kerr, Baron Olivier (1907–1989), actor and director, was born at 26 Wathen Road, Dorking, Surrey, on 22 May 1907, the younger son and youngest of the three children of the Revd Gerard Kerr Olivier (1869–1939) and his first wife, Agnes Louise, née Crookenden (1871–1920). His father, a High Anglican, was then serving as assistant priest at St Martin's, Dorking.
