He had focused all of his energy toward this moment. He was set upon obedience. Yet the very first thing Jesus asked him to do, John resisted.
In the Bible, it says "Wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare to her." (Proverbs 8:11). The Bible also says "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
