Dec 1, 2012 · The Lautner residence in Pensacola was designed for Ernest Lautner, a cousin of John Lautner, and his wife Mildred. It was built in 1957 by Ernest, a contractor, and later sold to his son Max, who owns it still. It is maintained by Max’s nephew Stephen Lautner, who lives primarily in Atlanta.
Jun 29, 2015 · John Lautner, was one of the most influential architects from the Mid-century modern period. Some of his projects became architecture and pop icons as the Goldstein Residence, the Chemosphere and the Elrod House: which well represent his design process described by Lautner as “a total involvement.”
The house is one of a series Lautner created in LA, his most famous being the Chemosphere house overlooking Beverly Hills. Each home has a central pillar supporting what looks like an enormous spoked wooden wheel as the ceiling; in the Harvey house, this “wow” feature is now in an enormous foyer.
The list of projects by John Lautner is still a work in progress but is gaining in accuracy every day.
