They should add a mod where u can dye weapons. Dyeing your weapons would probably be a HORRIBLE idea. I'll just say two things. Golden Shower & White Dye. The terraprism is a summon, you can dye it with shampoo acquired by the furry. Critter shampoo allows minions to be deyed ever sinve 1.4.
You can get good weapon by destroying shadow orbs, another good source is jungle where you can get/craft many good weapons. You also can try exploring sky islands and get starfury.
For a mage, the Water Bolt is the best weapon available. The Aqua Scepter and the Magic Missile are decent secondary weapons. Summoners should use the Hornet Staff, as the Slime Staff isn't very good against Underworld enemies, along with either the Snapthorn or Spinal Tap as secondary weapons.
