- The Cecil Hotel. When it opened in the 1920s, the Cecil Hotel was one of the most opulent hotels in Downtown Los Angeles. However, the hotel’s fall from grace after the start of the Great Depression was a fast one.
- Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel is Los Angeles’ oldest operating hotel dating back to 1927. The hotel is built in a Spanish Colonial Revival Style and features a historic lobby complete with stone columns, arched doorways, and beautiful ceilings.
- The Hollywood Sign. The Hollywood sign stands as a symbol of Los Angeles….. and may be just a tiny bit haunted. In 1932, Peg Entwshile, a moderately successful actress, decided to end her life by jumping off the top of the H. Joggers and hikers now claim to see a blond woman who appears to be walking on air and smell the strong fragrance of gardenias as they pass by.
- Hollywood Forever Cemetery. It is hard to imagine one of the oldest cemeteries in Hollywood NOT being haunted. Hollywood Forever doesn’t disappoint and it is believed to be haunted by a number of high profile ghosts, including Rudolph Valentino, a Hollywood hunk and silent film actor, and the women in black who always visited his grave, as well as Virginia Rappe, a young actress who died tragically of a ruptured bladder that may have been the result of a brutal rape.
- Pico House, Downtown LA. The Pico House, built back in 1869 and 1870, was a three-story luxury hotel ordered by Pio Pico. Pico was the last Mexican Governor of Alta California, as well as being a successful businessman.
- AHS Murder House. Construction on the Rosenheim mansion, now known as the AHS Murder House, began in 1902. For more than 50 years, a Catholic organization owned the mansion.
- Colorado Street Bridge, Pasadena. During the Great Depression, many people made their way to the 150-foot-tall Colorado Street Bridge. These individuals did not go to the bridge to enjoy the landmark bridge; many people went to jump off.
- The Hollywood Sign, Hollywood. When the Hollywood Sign was first built, it was the Hollywoodland sign. The word “land” was later removed from the sign.
