The modern Wild Mouse was invented by German designer Franz Mack. In the original wooden Wild Mouse coasters of the 1960s and 1970s, the cars were so small that they could only fit two adults in close contact. While the low capacity of these rides led to long lines, the cars were small by design.
The park's first roller coaster since the Cyclone, the Wild Mouse, was built. The resort also got a new kind of ride, a monorail , that was the most popular ride in 1959. Breakers Hotel was restored and the neglected cottages were demolished.

Facts. A 1960 brochure lists the Wild Mouse as a new ride, but stories dates May 14, 1959 in the Sandusky Register and on May 28, 1959 in the Mansfield News-Journal report this ride was to open Memorial Day that year.
